Enjoying home cooking

Having friends over this afternoon. Alan and I made several simple but tasty dishes. I made a new dish this time – creamy and cheesy scalloped potatoes (the dish on the bottom right of the picture), it was very tasty and easy to make, I will definitely add this one to my favorite list.

The day before: we were busy in preparation, Alan was putting rubs onto his brisket, me, stir fried chicken wing tips with bunch of green onions – a Shanghainese style snack, popular among girls.

Some of party food girls had brought to the party. Pictures clockwise from top: Short ribs; sweet corn; dates and figs braised in Zojirushi Stainless Steel Thermal Vacuum Cooking Pot, the pot worked very well, ribs were very tender and flavorful, and it kept temperature very hot even 6 hours later. I’m considering buying one too. Fresh fruits salad, Spicy shredded chicken cucumbers salad, Mung bean cake with black mushrooms, Very smooth and dense chocolate cake (paired with vanilla ice cream, it was so heavenly!)
