After having the 12x8 feet vegetable raised garden for over half year, it's the time for us to extend it... we are looking forward to harvest more vegetables later on.
Actually... I prefer to turn our whole backyard as a vegetable garden, but Alan would prefer to have some grass so that he can have mowing exercise... the only regular physical activity he has now. :->

We bought 6, 8 feet 4x4 landscape timbers from Lowe's, then went to Homedepot & bought another 6, 8 feet 4x4 timbers and had them cut in half (Lowe's couldn't cut them). Then we built 4x8 feet extended wings against our original garden.
Alan drilled holes through the timbers then pounded half inch cement reinforcement rods thru the 3 stacked high timbers and 1 into the ground. For extra support, he also pounded in 6 inch spikes into the ends to bind it together.

We have been growing beans in our tiny backyard garden. Lima beans is one of them (the others are bush beans; green beans). We didn't pay much attention on those growing, but they still produce more beans than we can consume.
The Lima beans you saw in this picture are too matured, we don't eat them, but they can be saved as seeds. Lima beans is an interesting kind beans, it changes it's color from light and solid green to the color and texture you see in this picture.
We steam the beans (green and tender ones) for 45 minutes then mix them with butter to eat. The beans taste creamy and fresh.
I found those beans are interesting and cute... see... it's my problem, I often see things are interesting which those are absolutely normal in the others eyes (at least in my hubby Alan's eyes).
